Linux Lead Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining servers, including supporting Unix based mail system and Linux/Apache technologies. Supports other IT functions which may include: ticket resolution and troubleshooting, on-call support, project lead and technology planning. Ensures IT procedures and policies are followed to meet Service Level Agreements.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Leads technical support for the installation, configuration and maintenance of platforms for daily production requirements and project development.
  2. Maintains up-to-date documentation and procedures that define the operability of the infrastructure.
  3. Monitors severs for performance and availability. Makes recommendations when necessary to meet the expected demands.
  4. Maintains current system tables such as user accounts, hosts definitions, software inventories and DNS configurations.
  5. Installs/maintains third party software packages as require.
  6. Maintains current OS and patch levels on all servers and clients.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to carry a pager and respond to 24/7 support
  • Ability to debug and modify complex C programs

Experience/Training:

  • 5-7 years of Linux/Unix administration experience
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix server commands and utilities (i.e. scheduling, backups, system stats)
  • Knowledge of all aspects of system administration (i.e. installation, configuration, use management, 3rd party software license management etc.)
  • Experience with one or more server-based operating systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundamental networking/distributed computing environment concepts, network synchronization schemes

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
